Today's Featured Biography
Patricia Ward Hanson
Life
I live in Pittsburgh PA with my husband Michael, our daughter Annelise (she turned 7 years old on June 10, 2012), and our little dogs (a Shih Tzu) Trinny and Teddy (a Yorkshire Terrier). Mike and I love spending time with Annelise and being parents has added so much joy and dimension to our long relationship. Our little girl is such a funny, smart, kind-hearted, delightful child. She loves music and dance (she studies guitar) and never seems to stop dancing. Our hearts overflow with grace, and gratitude as we watch her grow and develop.
We purchased an older home several years ago and have been working to restore it. Restoring our home has certainly been an adventure.
I work as a Sales and Marketing Manager and a Corporate Culture Trainer for Starwood Hotels and Resorts. I am also a Graduate Student part time studying Counseling Psychology in a Post Masters Degree Program at Carlow University. I think I might like to earn a Doctorate in Psychology at some point. Mike (my husband) is an attorney, and and we own a franchise business called IKOR of Western Pennsylvania.
College
Academically you could say I was a late bloomer. I attended a business school right after high school and earned an Associate Degree in Specialized Business with a focus in Fashion Merchandising. Around the time that I turned 30, I started to get the feeling that my career growth was somewhat limited without a Bachelors Degree so I went back to school on the weekends and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Communication in 2000. I always had an interest in psychology, and after a few more years passed the voice inside me was calling me back to higher education. I considered an MBA, but I had spent my career in working in business, and although I enjoy the business world, I was feeling that my calling later in my life was to be a good wife and mother and find a way to serve others. I returned to Carlow University at night to persue a Masters Degree in Professional Counseling. Now that I am 4 classes from completing this program, I am considering a PsyD in Counseling Psychology. With a husband, a house, a young daughter, a desire for another child and a career, it might take me a few years to reach my academic goals, but I will be 50 someday anyway. Right?
Workplace
My early adult career was filled with learning about myself and growing. I was a retail manager for several chains, Foot Locker, American Eagle, Madisons, and then I went to work for a Los Angelos based clothing designer called Carole Little. I did merchanding and special events for Kaufmann's and Lazarus department stores in PA,OH,WV, and upstate NY. It was a great job, I spent a lot of time traveling to and working at our show rooms in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and other parts of the country. I grew a lot personally and professionally in this job and gained great experience until the company filed for bankruptcy and I had to find a new way to earn a living. I worked for a small marketing and communication company for a year, where I learned a lot but felt confinded by the small business culture. I accepted a job as a Sales Manager with a hotel company, and for the last 11 years I have been working as a Sales and Marketing Manager and a Corporate Trainer for several of the large hotel companies. I enjoy my job and have gained so much wonderful life and professional experience in my career. I really enjoy working and look forward to a long career and happy fun "balanced" life at home too.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
