Carole Grasso Maenpa

After H.S. I studied to be a dental assistant at UCLA but it didn't take long to find out this wasn't a career I could sink my teeth into!
I married Ron Gainor in 1965 (who graduated from Dorsey in '60)and we had a beautiful daughter, Donna Michelle, in 1967.
Life took some sharp turns and Ron passed away in 1973 as a result of a tragic car accident.
I continued working at Hughes, where I had known Jon (Maenpa). He was there for comfort & support during the bereivement period and to make a long story short, we fell in love & married in Lahaina, Maui HI. in late 1973. We had a son, Dustin Michael, in 1974.
After working at a myriad of jobs (including a long career in hairdressing, clerical, sales, etc) I discovered Advertising, & worked for the Vice Chairman and later, the Exec Creative Director at Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide agency. I was literally in the middle of making commercials for multi-million dollar clients & loved every minute of the production process. It was there that I found my passion for Voiceovers. After leaving Saatchi,I pursued a career as a Voice Actor from 2000 to most recently, under the professional name of Carole Hill. I still keep a website (carolehill.com), but hope to officially retire asap.
Jon & I have enjoyed 38 great years of marriage surrounded by our wonderful children, big italian family and a lovely circle of friends... we've had the pleasure of traveling to some of the most beautiful places in the world. We also fell in love with cruising, which has given us the opportunity to see many places we might not have otherwise traveled to. After nearly 40 cruises, we still look forward to more! Each cruise takes on a life of its own and presents new adventures every time! Some of my personal favorite places we've been to are France (particularly Paris three times (the coup de gras was the time my husband took me for my bday - very special to say I enjoyed "April in Paris!");other favorite travel destinations are Italy, Sicily, Spain (especially vibrant Barcelona, four times!), UK, Greek Islands (specifically Mykonos & Santorini) and many of the Caribbean islands. Another cruise that stands out was in the Baltic & I will never forget sailing by the White Cliffs of Dover, visiting Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, & seeing a Russian Ballet in St. Petersburg! There's too many highlights to mention, and of course some of the best sights we've enjoyed are right here in the U.S. & Canada.
Another passion is Wine! Not only do we enjoy good wine, but Jon & I have had the pleasure of making wine! Our interest in wine has taken us to many wonderful spots such as Napa/Sonoma, Sta Inez Valley, Paso Robles, Temecula & even to Reims, France where we loved touring through the Champagne regions & tasted some of the finest champagnes made...
Since Dorsey, I have had four names: I went from Carole Grasso to Carole Gainor, to Carole Maenpa and use Carole Hill for Voice work!
Life continues to be full and enriched ... and as I always say; let the good times roll!
