Today's Featured Biography
Sandra Holmes Taylor
Since high school, I attend Contra Costa JC for a year prior to returning to the Los Angeles' Area where eventually I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Managment from the University of Antioch, Marina Del Rey Campus in 1983. Yes, it took me a while to accomplish that hurdle, but I did it within 18 months. WOW! However, while attending college, as a full-time student, I also worked for and retired from after 37 years, in 2004, The Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles where I am proud to say, I have left a legacy for my family and friends to admire for years, including the completion of USC's campus, LA Staples, where I'm shown on the Wall of Fame, and Convention Centers, Revitalization of the Loft, Entertainment,etc. District, Disney Complex as well as numerous housing units in the Downtown Area; Kodak Center in Hollywood along with numerous other improvements.
I am the proud parent of a Son, MBA University of Phoenix and currently enrolled in USC's PhD Educationally Program, whose Wife, a USC Graduate, Fellow and world traveller, helped to create a prototype for successful Charter Schools in the Country. They have twin girls and are enjoying life to the fullest.
I am an accomplished Toastmaster after having completed the international program and awarded the highest designation available, DTM, Distinguished Toastmaster in 2005 along with various Leadership Excellence Awards; I'm the first African American Female Commissioner for my great City and have received numerous certificates of recognition for services rendered to my community; an Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce; I'm the Public Relations Coordinator for my Church where I write periodic news articles for publication in the Area paper; I've been affiliated with The Most Worshipful Masonic Organization where I've held positions locally, statewide and nationally for over 18 years; currently, I'm the first African American to have been elected President of The Woman's Club in my City and can't wait until my term is over.
