Today's Featured Biography

Courtnea Whitehill Stark

While I did not graduate from LHS, I did attend school there until I was placed in foster care at the age of thirteen. My family, the Whitehills lived in Litchfield long after I was removed some three years after the demise of both my parents. I am still tied to Litchfield.
I had many friends in Litchfield and often wonder how they are, where they are and what they are doing in their lives.

I have been disabled for the past three years with a neurological disease called Arachnoiditis, and will not be able to work again.

My life has been somewhat complicated, and by no means easy, but I am doing as well as I can and have been quite positive in attitude these past few years. My husband, not the father of my children, and my children have been very supportive of me since I have been disabled and I am grateful for them.

I have been writing for many years now and am in the process of writing two memoirs. One will be my personal life story, the other will be my life in foster homes.

My very first attempt at writing for public was a letter writing contest and I won honorable mention. My letter will be published in a book that is due to be released in the spring of 2005. I am still on a "high" from that. I have entered other letters and some I have not as yet heard about. My last contest entry was August of this year and that was an entry for a memoir writing contest. The winners are to be announced soon.

I took a 12 week course at Wisdom House this summer and enjoyed "going home" every week to study my art with other artists from Litchfield. Very nostalgic for me.

My hope is that some of my former classmates will remember me and get in touch just for old times sake.

I have no idea who is where, and if there have been any losses in the class. I would love an update from anyone who cares to contact me.

My wish is for peace, health, and happiness for all of you.
