Today's Featured Biography
Howard Blackburn
After Richmond, I attended Augusta College and studied music. It was fun and it took me to places that I had never been, like New Orleans, Washington DC, and The Bahamas. I learned quite a bit but I was never serious enough to complete my degree. In 1985, I auditioned for a position as a saxophonist in the United States Air Force band. I came close but was told to practice hard and try again in about a year. I really didn't want to wait another year so I enlisted as an electronics technician. After boot camp and tech school my first duty station was a little radar base about 35 miles north of Havre, Montana (the middle of nowhere). For the next six years, Uncle Sam took me to Denver, Tacoma, and I finished up my stint in the Air Force in Okinawa, Japan. Next, I lived in Whitefish, Montana for a year and a half. In search for better work, I ended up in Howell, Michigan. A few jobs later, west Michigan where I now work as a tech in the engineering department at GE Aviation in Grand Rapids. I have 3 boys. Aaron is 17, Benjamin is 12, and Callum is a very energetic 7 years old. God has blessed me way beyond what I deserve.
