Stacy George

I have the most boring life ever. For the curious: my brother is married and in Michigan, sorry to all of those out there who thought they had a chance, my sister is back in Portland, and I am in Bangor.
In 1999, when I should have graduated college, I was home sick going through a series of tests, with every doctor I was seeing thinking that I had mono. Unfortunately, they found out I have a chronic illness called Fibromyalgia Syndrome. I stayed in Boston with my sister to get further testing done and to see the better doctors down there. At the time I was miserable and in a lot of pain but now I am doing very well and healthy. It also took me a long time to get over the fact that I did not graduate. That will just have to come later. I am really happy right now so that doesn't matter any more.
In 2001, I came home because my father was diagnosed with cancer. (He's doing well and cancer free!) I got a postition at the American Red Cross as a phlebotomist working at blood drives. I quit that job after two years due to the stress on my health and then proceeded to flounder through meaningless jobs, the only one worth while was a coaching position at William S. Cohen School, known to all of us as Garland Street. I was a cheerleading coach, yes I said cheerleading, and I absolutely loved it. Now I am back in the blood bank field but working for the EMMC Blood Donor Program. It is much smaller than the Red Cross and much more personable. I really enjoy it and love the people I work with. Eventually I will get married and have kids, but right now, NO WAY!!!! I enjoy my freedom and my sleep.
