Today's Featured Biography
Theresa Baum Asselin
After graduation, I attended Michigan State for one year and then transferred to the University of Michigan where I graduated with a BBA degree in May 1992. I started working towards my CPA at Arthur Andersen in Grand Rapids later that summer. Eric and I were married in April 1993 and we moved to Hudsonville. Once I got my CPA license, I went to work in Finance at Miller SQA (subsidiary of Herman Miller) and we moved to Holland. In January of 1997, our 1st baby girl was born! As a manager, I wasn't able to work part-time so I went to work for JCI's finance group in Holland 2 to 3 days a week. When Sydney was 2 years old, I left JCI to start my own accounting business at home. In December of 1999, our son, Matthew was born. Then in October of 2001, Sara was born (5 weeks early). A little while after Sara was born, we discovered Matthew had some speech and feeding issues that needed to be addressed at Mary Free Bed so I gave up most of my clients to focus on helping him. Finally in October of 2004, our 4th and final baby, Emily, came into the world.
With kids ages 11, 8, 6, and 3, I keep very busy! I currently have 2 accounting clients that I take care of, this will be my 6th year on our school's Home & School Association and I am active in our church. We live near the lake in Holland so we enjoy wonderful sunsets and bike rides on the bike paths. I can't believe it has been 20 years since high school graduation! Time flies...I see that watching my kids grow up so fast before my eyes. It's been a long time since Eric and I met in Pascal class...we celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary this year and we have been truly blessed!
