Today's Featured Biography
Alan Lacy
After graduation I went to Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. I went for a year and then spent two years in Switzerland and Germany working for my church. I then went back to school at BYU where I met my wife. We married in August 1991 and is from San Diego, so we spend a lot of time there. I graduated from BYU with a BS in City Planning and Resource Management and my wife graduated from there also with a degree in education and music in 1994.
I then attended UMCK School of Law and got my JD in 1997. I began a solo practice in Kansas City, KS with a friend from law school and practiced in criminal defense, personal injury, business development, and music. I wrote a column for the Pitch for musicians and we worked on shopping bands to labels.
With our second child I opted for a more steady income and entered the IT industry as a network admin for an insurance company, and then for a bank managing routers, design, and data/telecom.
From the bank I went into IT auditing and network penetration work. My boss liked my legal background and so moved to compliance work. I left the bank and took a position with a financial company as a compliance manager and in-house attorney. I handled Bank Secrecy, Anti-Money laundering work chiefly and look for terrorist financing and money laundering as well as managing state law issues.
I now work with a friend and partner in a law practice chiefly in Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas. We work mainly on personal injuries, accidents, traffic, DUI/DWI, criminal, family law, and general civil work. I still do some banking law as well.
I have a great wife, who stays at home with our very active boys. Our oldest has Asperger's Syndrome a mild form of autism, very smart, but quite a handful. We are very active in our church. I spend time playing with my boys, gardening, playing computer games, shooting, cooking (Greek, Med, Chinese) and my wife plays piano and is a wonderful singer.
