Archie Robinson
Robinson , Archie 10/17/1949 - 10/28/2020 Saginaw ARCHIE ROBINSON, Saginaw, MI went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Archie was born in Pleasantville, NJ on October 17, 1949 to William and Bennie Robinson. He attended Hillsdale College and was a standout on the baseball and football teams where he earned All American honors and was inducted into the Hillsdale Football Hall of Fame. He then played for the Miami Dolphins. He married, Sharon Reder Robinson, on July 28, 1981; she survives him. He was a bus captain, soul winner, Sunday School teacher, choir member, usher and a faithful prayer warrior at First Baptist Church of Bridgeport. One of the highlights of his week was his Saturday midnight prayer meeting. Countless lives were touched and influenced through his ministry for the past 45 years. Archie was a retired teacher and a passionate football, basketball and baseball coach at Millington, Flint Hamady, St. Mary's, Nouvel, Atherton, Mt. Morris High Schools, South Middle School and Saginaw Valley State University. He always had competitive and well conditioned teams. He umpired baseball, softball and basketball throughout the state at all levels as a member of MHSAA, ASA and the NCAA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wilbert Jefferson and a brother-in-law, Gregory Reder. Surviving along with his wife Sharon are his daughter, Ruth Ann Robinson and his brother, James (Sue) Robinson, mother-in-law, Agnes Reder, brother-in-laws Tony (Marta) Reder, Marty (Nancy) Reder, Bruce (Sharon) Reder and sister-in-laws Debra Jefferson, Barb (Dan) Klida, Sandy (Tom) Thompson, several nieces and nephews and their families. The funeral service will take place at 9: 00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, 2400 King Road, Bridgeport, MI. Pastor R.B. Ouellette will officiate, interment will be officiated by Pastor JD Howell at Spaulding Township Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020 at W.L. Case and Company, 5700 Dixie Highway and at the church on Saturday from 8 :00 a.m. until the time of the service. Those planning on expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Music Department of Bridgeport Baptist Academy or the Bus ministry of First Baptist Church.
