Today's Featured Biography
Bonnie Sanders Shimkin
Music has been a part of my life since Day 1. As you may know, Marion Lipps and I wrote a song, "Ninny Bop Bop" that actually made the charts way back when. We performed it at the Brooklyn Paramount, a show hosted by Allen Freed. Joan Glottstein accompanied us on the piano. We wore chino skirts and polka-dot vests. Well, recently, my son, Tony, who is in the music business was looking for a song with that sound for a jingle he was producing. Tony heard that song playing since the day he entered this world and for most of his childhood. When he saw it listed as an Oldie but Goodie on a Collector's site, he listened to it once more, heard those soothing "Bops" in his ear and rejected it. So much for that song! I see Ellen Rubenstein, Patsy Coleman and Lucy Komisar quite often. Ellen and I met at the 20th high school reunion and for 26 years worked on a Musical about Mae West. Our kids grew up hearing "Get It While It's Hot", "Risque's Too Risky", "The Upstairs Maid", "Come Up 'N See Me Sometime" and other lovely suggestive songs throughout their school days, and now our grandchildren are growing up with those tunes in their heads because we are rewriting once again. During this time, we wrote a song "We're Gonna Boogie To Heaven",
just to prove age can't stop us from creating. Dr. John recorded it with Gail Wynters. Lucy and I met at our last reunion in Florida, and since then she has come to my cabaret shows in N.Y. and reviewed them, quite favorably I might add. We go to theater sometimes together, and I love spending time with her. Patsy produces amazing concerts which I attend. We go way back and have been through a lot together. She introduced me to my husband of nearly 40 years, Arthur Shimkin.
I am widowed now and am entering a completely new stage of my life. It's challenging, but I am quite strong. Arthur helped me to realize my strength during our lives together so I know everything is going to be alright. I have my children, my grandson and music! How thankful I am for that.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
