Where have the years gone since we graduated from Sam Rayburn in 1965!! Looking at the photos, it seems like only yesterday!
However, over 50 years have passed creating fond memories and lessons learned.
After graduating I started working with International Harvester Company, Truck Manufacturer, (now Navistar) as summer help. Before long, I was working full-time in the mailroom, and before long I was able to be promoted to secretary in the Houston Office. Remember shorthand!! A lost art, and it helped me get the job! In 1971 I was moved to the Dallas Office where I stayed for the remainder of my career which lasted 44 years. I retired as Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of the SW Region. Loved my career of secretarial work and meeting/event planning.
I married my wonderful husband, Jim, in 2006. Jim also retired from Navistar after 50 years with his last position was Director of New Product Development, namely the Hybrid Medium Duty Truck. He has two sons, Mark and Joel.
We have two homes...we spend summers in Michigan on White Lake which opens onto Lake Michigan and we spend winters in Plano, Texas. The best of both worlds.
Jim loves sailing, so I am his First Mate!
In our retirement years we also enjoy traveling and have seen the Canary Islands, Barcelona, taken a Viking River Tour, and traveled many miles in the U.S.
As I enter the Autumn of my life, I look back on so many memories and life lessons. Thinking of those years at Sam Rayburn makes one feel young again! Thanks for the memories. God bless you all.
