Today's Featured Biography
fred gecan
Vietnam Veteran, who was actually in Vietnam,
Danang, from 1967 to 1968. Communications Center Specialist. Earned Seargent (3 Hard Stripes), E-5, within 18 mo.s from joining the Army.
Security class Instructor for the US Army at Fort Monmouth, NJ, 1968 to 1969. Honorably discharged with Citations.
Attended DeVry Institute of Technology, Phoenix, 1970 to 1972. Made Honor Roll.
Graduated, Arizona State University, BSET, Bachelor of Science Electronics, GPA 3.14, 1974.
Married my lovely wife Sheila in 1986 in Southern California where we still are.
Spent my career in Sales and Project Management for many Electronics Companies, the last one being IBM. Here I sold to or managed projects for Major Corporations. Earned many Sales Awards along the way including President's Awards which allowed my wife and I to travel in Europe, Carribean Cruise, to Hawaii, Can Cun and Bermuda on the companies' dime.
Had an AICD implanted for my heart in Jan 2002. Came down with Esophageal Cancer in Dec 2002. Over the last year had 3 chemo and 27 radiation treatments as well as two major
operations to remove my whole esophagus. This was done at USC Medical Center, Los Angeles, by a World Renouned Surgeon. My wife was an Angel throuhout all of it. God Bless her.
I had a number of complications on top of everything else during this whole process but I made it through it all.
All the cancer was removed and I am eating real food again (I had been on tube to intestine feedings for most of the year).
I am on the road to recovery. It is slow and should take about a year. Then I plan
to start my own business with my wife. At least I can say now that I am a cancer survivor. It was a long road.
We have been blessed with a son and daughter who each have 2 Grandchildren for us to enjoy. And we do.
I used to snow ski, play golf, played guitar/sang and formed a Christian band before I became ill. My wife, Sheila, was very involved with her own Ministry and Politics. I have a picture of her with George W. Bush. I plan to get involved with all of these again but most importantly just spend a good life with my wife....sharing life and having fun together.
I have fond memories of Shadle and the fellow students and teachers there.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
