Today's Featured Biography
Nancy Chamberlain
I always say I danced my way through high school. In addition to modern dance, Miss Garness’s operettas, and the noon musicales, I was in shows at the Village Playhouse and the Sunset Players. My plan was to be a Marquette Player but my parents insisted I get a major. So I graduated with a Broadcast/Marketing degree, got married, moved around—Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky & Illinois—and had two daughters. Ended up in Des Plaines where I was the park district dance teacher for 12 years. That job lead to being their PR person, then to a hospital publication job and finally 21 years as Communications Supervisor for the Arlington Heights Park District.
Luckily I could be a stay-at-home mom till my daughters were teenagers. When I took a full-time job I also got a divorce. The DP years were very active—PR & choreography for local theatre groups, volunteering at the History Center and serving on the Library Board, becoming a serious yoga student at the Himalayan Institute.
Now I’m joyously retired and live in a wonderful condo on a former golf course in Wheeling. I’m a yoga teacher, Reiki practitioner, knit & sew for clients, do as much grandma duty as possible and am back at the Des Plaines History Center writing articles and archiving artifacts from the former Theatre Guild. It’s all such fun.
My accomplished daughters each have 3 degrees and currently both are stay-at-home mothers. Jennifer (& John) live in Glenview with 3 kids—ages 12, 10 & 7; Ellen (& Aaron) have two boys 4 & 6. They were in Tokyo for 7 years as Aaron headed up a division of his company. Now they’re in Manchester, England….where I’ll be visiting during the class reunion.
In an on-going effort to simplify life, I use library computers rather than own one. But last year Jennifer gave me an iphone and I’m in app heaven! I’ve been blessed with good health; so life is good….I have the t-shirt that says so.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
