Daun Hood Kownatzki

I moved out of Alaska summer after graduation, moved to Texas married the person (no names)I dated in HS and then returned to AK in 1990 and divorced. Remarried in 1992, had Courtney Dae, now 19, and moved back to TX. I three years later had Brittney Danae, now 16, and seperated from husband #2. One year later, 1996, moved to San Antonio and divorced. Was a single hard working mom until working at Home Depot I turned, looked down the isle and saw the man I knew that would be the right one for me. Phillip Kownatzki, it's German not Polish. We dated for two years and married in 2000. We bought our home the same year and in 2001 started a small electronic repair business specializing in repairing equipment for the visually impared called Clearer Visions. While running Clearer Visions I decided to turn the rains over fully to Phillip and venture out into the work force. Don't get me wrong I loved being at home when the girls got home from school, and being a Girl Scout leader of two troops but I needed my own identity. I am now the department manager for a grocery store chain in the Recovery Department, I process and collect all the hot checks that are written to the company. I've worked closely with the local cities (PD), counties(Sheriff/JP/DA),state and federal (FBI) government authorities in prosecuting offenders. 2/2/07 Update: decided that things at work are a total major accident waiting to happen so I resigned (sort of), I've decided that since we have taken Clearer Visions to Full time again and Phillip has taken a job 300 miles away with a Pressure Data company working on gas and nitro wells that it was time for me to do something to make a career for my self.... I'M GOING BACK TO SCHOOL. Nurses are in high demand and I can get started in the field within 18 mo so I'm going to Nursing school to be a LVN then work on my RN after working a year or two. I'm not getting any younger and retirement is something that I will need, I don't want to depend on Phillip. I'm am Woman, I'm strong and , (I would like to think) Invincable. Will keep you all posted should graduate before reunion.

1/4/08 I started college in October 07, took 3 classes Psychology, made an A, Fresh Eng I, made an A, and Intro to Algebra, don't ask. Starting the spring sem with Intro Alg, Ethics, Human A & P, and Fresh Eng II. Decided to go for 2 years and become an RN, lookout all you ol folks. Will be applying to RN program in summer for fall start the 12 mo later I'll have my ASS in 09. Took me 20 years to figure out what the hell to do with my life. Will keep you all posted.

I am still very active in my daughters activities and Clearer Visions daily operations. I'm also very involved in our church as trustee and events committy member.

Courtney is Judson ISD's first female and was the only female Double Bass player untill Hurricane Katrina, then we got a female transfer student bass player. She'll start high school in the fall and will be active in the JROTC program. I'm very proud of her and her accomplishments. ***Just a added note just this week Nov 14, 06 Courtney earned her first rank. YEA, I'm building a great foundation for our first FEMALE PRESIDENT, I don't think we'll be ready before then, especially for one with no military background. ****Update**** 1/4/08 Courtney now holds the rank of Airman First Class, soon to be a Staff Sgt. She is also still in the orchestra, Symphany Orchestra.

Brittney has not yet left her mark on the district yet but will soon as she enters 6th gr (middle school) in the fall. ****Update I got one for the books, Britt and I had to go to the local JP',s court because she lit a match in Science class and it wasn't experiment time yet, not fine or judgement accessed I got it dismissed, I should have been a lawyer. Future scientist or future pyro?, Tough Question. ****Update****1/4/08
Brit is still active in the orchestra, will advance to Advance Orch when school returns from the Christmas Break.
UPDATE:9/1/09 I decided to change a few things. Decided to go to MA school and work my way to the top. I graduated in May 2009 with honors and a 4.00 gpa. I'm currently working in a onocology (cancer)office. Courtney is a Senior this year (and driving a 96 T-Bird), holds the rank of Capt. and the position of Flight Commander in JROTC. She wants to start college in the fall of 10 and after 6 yrs and a masters in nursing enter the Air Force. I love her goals. Brittney is a Freshman this year and has joined JROTC also, she wants to go to college and work with animals, we'll see. I turned 40 in July so I guess that I'm getting old. I'll continue my schooling in about a year or so. I'm now buiser than ever. My truck has been a blessing since getting it a year ago(Black 05 Dodge 1500 4x4)
My Favorite past time is watching the San Antonio Spurs play basketball. I'm a dedicated fan and don't miss a game, my husband and girls all know when the game is on that, as Phillip puts it, MOM IS OUT OF ORDER. I never got into basketball but something happens when you watch a live game against the Lakers (LA) and it's Mothers Day.

***************Update************************Courtney Graduated in 2010 and started college in the spring of 2011. Brittney is now a Sophmore and involved with AFJROTC and Orchestra. Life has had its ups and downs, I cant say that it hadn't, but things can only be as good as we strive for them to be. Hope all is doing well. See you in 2013, hopefully.
