Today's Featured Biography
Mary Norum Hallman
I headed south for college after LHS and graduated from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington in 1992 with my Masters in Teaching. I was hired by Tacoma Schools and taught 3rd, 4th and 5th graders for the next three years. I also married Mark Hallman, whom I met at UPS, in 1993. We lived in the North End of Tacoma while Mark went back to school for his Masters in Education; he works as a high school counselor in near-by University Place. I switched gears on a dare when I test for and was hired as a firefighter by the City ofTacoma in 1995. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I went to paramedic school in 2002-2003 and now work as a firefighter/medic, the best job around as far as I'm concerned!
Mark and I have two fabulous kids. Benjamin is 10 and is on track to be a "save the world" environmentalist. He loves the outdoors, plays golf and tennis, and recently began guitar lessons (Lord help me). Hannah is 9 and is very adventuous. She'll try anything at least once, loves gymnastics, plays piano, and has an awesome sense of humor.
Mark, the kids and I do a lot as a family unit. In "spare time" we water ski spring thru fall(we moved on a lake six years ago), and snow ski in the winter. Life is good.
