Today's Featured Biography
Erik Holt
I won't write too much just in case no other classmates check this site out. For some reason I had the itch to try and locate old friends from high school to see what they are up to 15 years after most of us last saw each other.
After high school I went to the United State Air Force Academy Prep School (kind of like a 5th year of high school). Upon completion of that I was accepted into the Academy itself where I promptly decided that Uncle Sam had entirely too much control over my life and left. From there I bounced from UAF to Calvin College (in Grand Rapids, MI), back to UAF where I graduated in 1997. It was also in '97 that I married my wife, Kimberly, whom was also a cadet at the Air Force Academy (she also decided to leave the Academy).
After graduation and marriage, I followed my wife to Chicago where she was finishing up her last year of nursing school. During that year I worked in the human resource department for one of the largest law firms in the country, Winston & Strawn. That was a miserable year (if not because of the rude folks and fast pace of Chicago - it's not like Fairbanks you know - but for the people I worked with). While working, I applied for - and got accepted - to law school in Lansing, MI. After my wife graduated, we moved to the small town of Belding, MI where I clerked for a small law firm during the day and went to law school at night. Two years later, I graduated with my law degree and stayed on as an attorney with the firm I had been clerking for.
Shortly after graduating, my wife gave birth to our first baby girl, Reygan, who has the biggest heart I've ever seen. It's amazing how having children can change your whole outlook on life and what is really important. She is six now. In 2004 we had our second little girl. Her name is Taylor and she is a "devil." Unfortunately, I can't help but smile at her when she's naughty (she's too cute)!
Since Taylor's birth, we have relocated approximately 20 minutes away from Belding, MI in the town of Rockford. Although I still work in Belding, Rockford is a much nicer community and has better schools for the kids.
It's been approximately 4 years since I have been back in Fairbanks (took a family trip up there with the oldest girl when she was two). Unfortunately, I didn't get to see any old pals from Lathrop. That was kind of a bummer but . . . to tell you the truth . . . I was kind of nervous to bump into anyone in fear that I may have forgotten your name. HA!
Anyhow, as I sometimes get to lookin' back on those high school years with fondness, I do think of the people that had an impact on my life and the memories I now have. While my family is the most important thing in my life (which has provided me much happiness), I want all my pals out there to know that high school was the "second" best time of my life and I think of you often.
Please e-mail me should you happen to see this site. As a suggestion, maybe we should start a site specifically for the Class of '92. I can't imagine it would be that difficult, and it would be a nice way for us all to keep in touch.
Feeling older the more I write,
Sincerely Yours,
Erik Holt
