Today's Featured Biography
Grace Lindsey Weedman
I married Charles Weedman (an ElDorado boy) in 1961. We spent most of our married lives in Monroe, Louisiana. We had four children who now live in New York City, Phoenix, West Des Moines, and Austin. There are seven grand children (two are "steps") and three great grandchildren.
After many moves and interruptions to have babies, I attended Baylor, L.S.U., Delta State U., and N.L.U. (Northeast Louisiana U.), which has become U.L.M., and eventually received B.A. and M.Ed. degrees. I started teaching school when my youngest child entered the second grade, and I taught gifted English to students in grades nine through twelve for twenty years.
My husband became a professor at N.L.U. after receiving his doctorate and taught music there for twenty-eight years before he retired. During all of those years, he directed a church choir in addition to his work at the university, and I sang in his choirs. He is now directing a church choir in Virginia Beach, directing the Jewish Community Chorus, and in February will be singing with the Virginia Opera.
Two years after we moved to Virginia, I was asked to become the Parish Visitor of First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. I visit those in the hospital, our shutins, and those with other needs. I connect our deacons with our pastors by informing the deacons of needs within their shepherd groups and by letting the pastors know what the deacons did to serve the needs of our congregation, and I write an e-mail prayer letter each week which is sent to our church staff, deacons, and elders.
Charles and I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel a little. We've been to England, Germany, Austria, and Hawaii.
Barbara told me that I needed to get a different picture from the one that was taken off my church website. I finally overcame my fear of technology and sent her one from my digital camera.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
