Today's Featured Biography
Rebecca Fischer
Beckie practices law with the partnership of Lehr Fischer & Feldman in Hollywood, Florida, specializing in estate planning, probate and guardianship, family/domestic law and commercial litigation. She graduated Dean's List from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California in 1982 and is admitted to practice law in both California and Florida. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1979, With Distinction, from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California.
Beckie has three children, Danielle who graduated from George Washington University in 2010, Joshua, a Junior at the University of Pennsylvania, and Aaron, a 9th grader at Hillel Community Day School.
Beckie presently serves as the immediate past chair of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee for Broward County and was a member of the Executive Committee of AIPAC's national board. She also serves as Vice President of Development for Kesher, a Jewish Day School for children with special needs, and is the immediate past President of her local Jewish National Fund Board and a past Chair of the National JNF Makor leadership group.
Beckie has a long history of involvement in her community, including serving as Women's Division Co-President and a Vice President at Large for the general Board of the Jewish Federation of Broward County. She served as the Chair of the National United Jewish Community Planning for Delivery of Human Services Committee under the UJC Domestic Policy Pillar and on the National Women's Philanthropy Board of UJC, serving as Programming Chair for the 2004 International Lion of Judah Conference. Beckie was a member of the National Young Leadership Cabinet and Co-Chaired the Southeast Region during her tenure on Cabinet. She also served as Associate Campaign Chair and the Jewish Agency for Israel Liaison as a member of Cabinet. Beckie served as a board member for the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute Women in Science and on the Board of Governors of Hillel Community Day school for many years. She is a past president of the Leukemia Society of America South Florida.
Beckie received many community service and leadership awards over the years, including recognition as a 2001 Weizmann Institute Women of Vision Honoree and the 2003 State of Israel Bonds Women's Division Honoree. She received the Community Service and Leadership Award in 2000 from her Women's Division and the Community Service Award from Broward County Jewish Family Services in 1999. Beckie received the Broward County Federation Young Leadership Award in 1994 and was a recipient of her Federation�s President�s Award in 2002 and 2003.
