Today's Featured Biography
Rochelle Kekauoha Asao
I attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa after graduating from Kahuku in 1963. Got married to my husband Jimmy Asao, a Red Raider "Wannabee" aka Marauder Defector (Waipahu graduate...duh!) on Dec. 31, 1965.
We have been blessed with two beautiful daughters, JaimeLee Iolani Rizzo, who is an organic chemistry professor and researcher at Pace University in New York, and Jarisse Kanoelehua Moore, who is a Deputy District Attorney with the Santa Clara County D.A.'s Office in San Jose, California. We have four beautiful grandchildren, Tiffany Leilanipolihenamakamaekuiiamenapuaaalahenohenowiliiamemailelaulii Cohen, 20 yrs, who is Junior in the Honors Program at Pace University where her Mom teaches...Tiffany also works part time as an intern at Price Waterhouse Cooper, one of the large and prestigious accounting firms in the country; and Joshua Kahanapukani Cohen, 15 yrs, a high school sophomore, who live in Glen Cove, NY; and James Calvin Moore (who was born on April 30, 2005 and named after his GeePa, the Red Raider Wannabee...James Calvin Asao and Russell Paden Moore "Rusty" (who was born on January 7, 2007) who live in San Jose, California. We also have three "granddogs", two in California (a Jack Russell named Russ & a terrier named Rocco) and one in New York (a ham of a Rottweiler named "Baby")!
I graduated from the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education in 1974. I currently work as a supervisor for a job readiness/life skills training program with the City & County of Honolulu. Previously, I've worked as a program administrator for the YWCA of Oahu for about 10 yrs. Prior to that I was the Region IX Children & Youth Resource Center Coordinator, working to address the issues of child abuse and neglect, foster care, juvenile delinquency prevention, adoptions.
We've lived in Kaneohe for the past 33 years and just love to see the majestic Ko`olaus from our backyard and smell the cool, fresh rain that nourishes our aina.
I've missed seeing all of our classmates and am so happy to have reconnected with many over the past couple of years at our reunions in Hawaii and Las Vegas. I'm looking forward to reconnecting with more of you in the near future. Remember...Once a Red Raider, Always a Red Raider!
