Today's Featured Biography
Allan Brockstein
I have been retired since June 2003 and live with my wife, Maureen, in Henderson NV, a suburb of Las Vegas. We live in a Del Webb Sun City Community with plenty to do. Besides going to great shows on the Strip, we are both very active in the Performing Arts Club. Maureen sings, dances, and acts in our shows. I have been the Stage Manager in charge of set changes and curtain movements for the past 7 years and have worked every show during that time. For several years I was President of the Club which has over 200 members and many active groups (for dancing, singing, acting, karaoke, and more). Maureen keeps in shape by regularly attending the gym; I am also in the Computer Club. We enjoy traveling, visiting family, and have a timeshare in Cabo San Lucas.
After graduating from Taft, I attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier for two years taking fundamental courses needed for an Engineering degree. I then transferred to the U of I Champaign-Urbana campus obtaining a BSEE and MSEE both in Electrical Engineering, and finally a Ph. D. in Control Theory in 1967. After that I went to work for Litton Industries in Woodland Hills CA, a suburb of Los Angeles, and remained there for my entire working career of 36 years (for the last two of those years, I was working for Northrop-Grumman as they entirely bought Litton). My field of expertise was Inertial Navigation Systems for military applications where I headed a group of Ph. D. analysts in the Systems Analysis Department for over 15 years.
We moved to Henderson from California in July 2003, just 2 weeks after retiring. During much of that time in California, my first (and late) wife, Sylvia, and I raised 2 girls, Tracy and Carrie. Both girls were child actresses. Tracy starred in over 125 Mr. Belvedere TV shows in the 80s, and Carrie was the lead child actress in the TV remake of The Bad Seed. In addition both did numerous commercials that aired on TV. I met Sylvia at the U of I and we got married during the summer of 1964. Incidentally both girls are now Mothers and are no longer in show business. My younger girl studied music at Cal State Northridge and now teaches singing and piano. My older girl is an accomplished realtor.
After my first wife passed away from cancer, I was extremely fortunate to find Maureen. We met in a video dating service (it works!). We have been married since 1992, having met in 1990. Between her family and mine, we now have 7 grandchildren (she has 4). We are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii (where we honeymooned) in February 2017.
We had a great time at the 50th and 55th Reunions, especially since we had only attended the 45th before that. Norm Gunther found me about a year or so before the 45th and we have been corresponding ever since. I had no idea that previous reunions existed. It was great to see former classmates at these reunions and to catch up. At these reunions I was so surprised that most everyone recognized me after all those years.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
