Today's Featured Biography
Elaine Nowak Rohleder
After graduating from Russell High School, I received my Bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University in December of 1985. I married James Rohleder 26 years ago. We moved to Manhattan, KS so he could continue his education in veterinary medicine. During the 6 years we were there, I taught 5th grade at Westmoreland Grade School and received my Master's degree in Educational Administration from Kansas State. After his graduation in 1992, we moved to Savannah, Missouri for one year. During that time, I was principal at Helena Elementary School in Helena, Missouri. One year in Missouri was enough for us, so we headed home and landed in Hays, Kansas.
Currently, James and I are living on a farm outside of Hays. I am in my 20th year as principal at Lincoln Elementary School, and James has his own business, Rohleder Veterinary Services. Along with our day jobs, we do some farming and raise cattle. We stay busy keeping up with our two boys. Samuel is a pre-vet major at Kansas State University and will someday join James in his practice. Thomas is a recent graduate of Fort Hays State University with a degree in Technology Studies and is currently working for Crawford Oilfield Supply. He is building a new cabinet/woodworking shop and will be opening a new business soon.
