Today's Featured Biography
Kim Dines Carter
I was married to Gordon Woods in 1979 and divorced in 1988. Later that year I married a wonderful gentleman from Charleston SC and 21 years later, we enjoy our life together in SC more than we ever have. I went back to school to get my Psych degree when I was 40 - and opened my own coffee shop at the same time. Finished school, revamped the coffee shop to be a jazz club, enjoyed that for awhile and moved on. Had enough of business ownership and got a part-time job cutting fruit that doesn't gouge my personal life as much. I sing with a jazz group now and again, just for fun.
My husband, Michael, is a jeweler/realtor. We have 4 grown children - Meghan, a hairdresser;Christopher, in seminary; Trystan, in college; & Micah, Dunkin Donuts shift manager/college student. Trystan is married & Chris will be married in July. No grandkids, yet, but we "adopted" a pregnant teenager who will be giving birth in July, so we'll be surrogate grandparents to the new addition to the household. it will be fun to have a baby in the house again.
Michael and I like to keep learning, so we decided to take horseback lessons this spring and I'm practicing to get my concealed weapons permit. He's got his and I can't let him get too far ahead of me in experiences! We like to travel, both in the US and overseas. We have a pretty conservative political outlook - ever heard of the Constitution Party? Check out www.constitutionparty.com for more info.
We have 2 cats, Marble & Emma, and our daughter Micah's Pekinese, Melody, who lives with us for right now, but will be moving to Charleston in the fall. We have an aquarium that seems destined to kill every fish that strays into its waters.
I tend to look at my life in terms of decades. I consider myself blessed to have lived through my 20's, since I made every life-altering mistake there was to make in that decade. I loved my 30's because I grew up and settled down and began to do things that were healthy and worth remembering. My 40's have been the best, yet; the most challenging and exciting. I'm really looking forward to the 50's, to see if this positive trend continues!
