I have had alot of ups and downs through out the years,(like most of us I'm sure), but my BIGGEST accomplishment, (besides my kids) is surviving Breast Cancer. Not once, but TWICE! First time was almost 16 years ago, when I was only 37, and 2nd time was 10 years ago. The 2nd time around was the opposite side, and was considered a "new" cancer, because it was totally different and not a "recurrence" from the first time. A little over 2 years ago, I was tested for the Breast Cancer Gene. Turns out I was positive (like I didn't figure that. After consults with 5 Dr's, it was not a matter of "IF" but "WHEN" I would get it again for the 3rd time. So, I decided to go ahead and have a Double Mastectomy. It was one of the hardest things I have been through and have had a lot of problems from it, but,through support groups, I have learned how to deal with it, and try to live life to it's fullest! I am LIVING proof that with early detection, you can survive! So
ladies, when it's time for that dreaded mammo, get it done! We think that it can't/won't happen to us, but it can and it does!
Anyway, after graduating, I worked at my family's grocery store, Friendly Market for a couple of years, and took a few classes at ACCC. In 1979, I ventured into the casino world. I was a Day one employee at Bally's, where I was a Cage Cashier Supervisor. Got tired of the casino real quick! I got married in 1982 (divorced now). Had my daughter in 1984 and my son in 1989. Worked at Security Savings & Loan somewhere in there as the Assistant Branch Manager for about 6 years. Was a stay at home mom for a few years, but in between, I was a waitress here and there. Finally settled in for 10 Years at a hotel as the Sales & Marketing Manager.
I am currently unemployed, which is a long story, and I think I have bored you enough by now, so I won't get into it!
Just got married on June 3rd, 2012 to Doug with whom we have been together for 10 years.
