After JHR I attended UT Austin where I pledged Alpha Gamma Delta, and through a 'sister' met my husband George from Tyler. In 1964, we moved to the Detroit area where George worked as a engineer at Ford and I volunteered at the kids school, our church and learned I talked funny! In 1982 I completed a BS and found joy in teaching HeadStart.
In 1984 we moved to Paris, France (15eme) and I continued to volunteer at the American School of Paris, take classes at Cordon Bleu, made friends, costume the middle school play, and learned to speak not-so-good/bad French (depending on you point of view). We became devout francophiles and always thinking and planning our next trip to la France.
Upon returning to the Detroit area, I was hired as manager for an infant mental health research project with premature infants. Loved the work and the mothers and the kids...
When I decided to study for a Master in Public Administration, I was awarded a Particia Roberts Harris Public Service Fellowship. I then worked at Wayne State University as a research assistant for an endowed program concerned with programs for children and families. This led to a posistion with the County Mental Health Agency as the program developer for Early On (Michigan's response to ADA part D). After a hiatus for surgery on my back, I became the Recipient Rights Advisor (again Mental Health) for 1000 Developmentally Disabled Adults. I retired from this position in 2002.
So now...mother of 2 (Sarah Bioengineering professor at Clemson SC, Richard Couputer support in Detroit area, grandmother of 3 Erica junior in architecture at Univ New Mexico, Emmett senior in high school plays soccer, chess and the tuba, and Ellen 10 a happy bossy 5th grader). I paint (active in 2 art guilds), cook (Souther Lady Home Style, Tex-Mex, French), garden and do pool exercise. My husband and I are active in the Detroit Public Shoools "Reading Corps" and are helping pre-schoolers get ready to read.
We love to travel..Niagara Falls and France being our most recent trips.
May 2015: Planning on the 55th in Houston in September, and a visit to Charleston SC and Clemson in October.
Just back from China, where I sketched and encouraged Chinese children to 'draw something for me' and came home with several works, one while we were on the Great Wall.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
