After being a full-time reporter most of my life, for the AP, the Boston Herald, Hearst and MS Magazine, I went to Eastern Europe in 1990 to report on what was happening after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the creation of a Solidarity government in Poland. Came back to the USA as a journalist in residence at Indiana University, but three months in Poland in 1990 had hooked me on the drama there. I went back and stayed a decade, renting out my DC Victorian and covering my expenses there by freelancing for business publications in England, Ireland and the US. Came back to DC in 2002 and did freelancing, as well as a lot of hands-on parental care for my mom, my stepmom and my dad. My dad is 98 and still going strong.
For the last three years, I've been working nearly full time as part of the aging-in-place movement, which began in Boston's Beacon Hill Village. For the past two years, I've been president of the Dupont Circle Village which now has 105 members and 55 volunteers and does more than 100 events a year. And more! It's always interesting and also is fascinating to be at the cusp of a new national movement.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
