One month before the end of WW II, in June 1945 at the age of 10, I moved from St Louis – Webster Groves, MO to Seattle WA.
I joined the Navy at 17 - (1952-1955). I was a weather man or an AG3 in meteorology.
My first 18 month duty station was in Mt. View CA, at the Moffett Field Air Base. Good Liberty or paid vacation area that included: San Jose, Alameda, Monterey, Riverside, Santa Cruz and the San Francisco Bay area.
I finished my Navy duty with 18 months on the Aircraft Carrier USS Oriskany CVA 34. This included a 7 month Far East paid vacation tour. My tour or Vacation liberties included San Diego, Tijuana-Mexico, Hawaii, Japan, Philippines and Hong Kong-China.
The Navy called it a Kiddy Cruise because you were in at 17 and out before 21.
I was successful in Real Estate and in playing the IRS game. At 17 years old I purchased my 1st rental house.
In 1990 the Turner Broadcast Co. took view photos from my house. They enlarged them to 17’ high – 88’ wide and weighing over 1,000 pounds. The photos from my house were used as a TV background stage for the Seattle Good Will Games and seen around the world.
I bought my 1st computer n 1978. I generally install and begin using Microsoft’s programs before they are released. Six months before its release I starting using Office Pro 2003.
Partners:..... 4 Good Partners and a Life Partner
IRS: My and Your Life partner from the beginning to the end.
1st. -... Sue: My Marriage Partner for 15 years: Planned careful, No children.
2nd.-...Jan: My Partner for 2 years: She had 2 children – I was fixed.
3rd.-...Deanna: My Partner for 1 year: She had 3 children – I was fixed.
4th.-...Kathy: My Partner for 20 years: No children planned or wanted.
All were Good Partners for the times and place and I have few regrets. For all Partners, I have more good memories than bad memories.
..........Past Interest:
Arthur Murray dancing, fishing and boating in Puget Sound, skiing and gambling Junkets.
My main interests were My Partners, Real Estate, Computers and playing the IRS game.
..........Traveling
2 visits: Alaska: 1 boat trip and 1 to Nome above the Artic Circle.
1 visit: England: Brideshead Revisited TV Tour.
7 visits: Hawaii: The Big Island, Maui, Kauai and Molokai.
9 visits: The Far East: Japan, Philippines and Hong Kong-China.
1 visit: Typhoon Clara: Near its center on a Cruise, with a radar photo.
8 visits: Mexico: Including a 4,600 mile driving trip to the Baja Area.
Numerous: Puget Sound area vacations, Vancouver BC, Victoria BC, Ski trips, Puget Sound boat trips and Gambling and Ski Junkets to Reno and Las Vegas.
..........Currently (2004) I am 5’9” and 190 lb.
I have always had and I continue to have excellent health; however sometimes I do wonder.
What is a young guy like me doing in this old body?
I am not young enough to know everything.
