Today's Featured Biography
Kathy Jordon Conner
We are remodeling the old homestead (hubby is, I supervise) and we/he has gotten new kitchen cabinets in and I am fussing with drapes. We have a 5th wheel and go south every other year or so. We did the 'road trip around the USA' a couple of years ago. It is a very long trip! I think I am going to be more specific when hubby asks me where I want to go next time. ..
I was injured on the job in 2010, I developed Regional Complex Pain Syndrome in all of this...so my new skill is called "pacing". Many of my days are in a pain management clinic and wondering if this will ever go away.....
Update: still have pain syndrome...drat! My husband got cancer in 4 places stage 4 in December 2016. He is doing well and recovering slowly.
UPDATE 2019:
My husband of 33 years passed away last August 2018.
His body went to medical research and by the time i received his ashes, it was snowing in Wyoming, where he was born and grew up. He wished for his ashes to be placed in the family plot, so I put them at the feet of his mother, as she died when he was 4 and he had no memory of her. She must have spent hours with him because she had him reading when he was just over 3.
I want her to see what she started in this good man when she accesends to meet her Lord in the air.
They will rise together.
He was buried in Ten Sleep, Wyoming on July 3, 2019 (yes, just over a week ago). I returned home on July 4th and was flying through Salt Lake City.
When I boarded the plane for the last leg of this trip, the stewardess noticed my flag from his military honors ceremony. She asked me a couple questions, I thought nothing of it and proceeded to find my seat.
A few minutes after the famous seat belt instruction and demonstration, she announced to the entire plane full of people that Roy had passed away after a 22 year career combined in the Army, Air Force and Navy. He was a physical therapist. The entire plane clapped and cheered his service...again, I wish he was there to hear it for himself.
So now I can have peace from that chapter of my life and move forward. Now I see the benefits of a funeral.
It does help us place a book end on events in our lives.
I am wrestling with my new title: widow. I do not like it at all and I wish it would go away. I have dabbled in online dating and have chatted until I am blue, but as to date, there have been none...I wonder if there is a support group for online dating failures?...LOL.
I was not ready anyway, I pushed back as fast as an actual potential coffee date came up, so it is my fault and I need for more time to adjust.
Besides all of the grieving activities, I have been remodeling the house and learning new skills...like how to plumb in a new shower and other things I never believed I would ever need to know how to do.
Surprise! LOL
That has been my life for the last 11 months. Between the 19 years I cared for my parents and my last 4 with my husband, it is past time for me to give up this hobby of caregiving. I am almost out of relatives, so I think this is a safe bet that I am done. Now I am trying to remember what I wanted to do with my life when I no longer had responsibilities???? Humm...just can't remember what I had on my list 23 years ago...???
So I will continue to try to remember and post another update when I do recall what it was. I hope it was something really fun like scuba diving off the North coast of Okinowa where there are old Japanese ships sunk with stuff still on board.
Enjoy the 50th, it only comes once...Kathy
