Today's Featured Biography
Kevin Payne
I am an Orthodox Christian and co-founder of the Quincy Orthodox Mission.
I am still active in gaming, as I was in high school, as well as singing and acting (with the Quincy barbershoppers, the Quincy Community Chorus, and the Quincy Community Theatre).
I work in broadcasting. Most of my years have been announcing classical music, with some jazz and new age. In 1996 I began working in local news and talk, but since I love to talk it's not really a problem.
Here's my history:
Attended University of Hartford (CT), Hartt School of Music 1978-1980, then finished my B.S. Music at Illinois State, Normal (IL) 1980-1983. Majored in music, prepared for educzation but got sidelined into radio instead. Worked as classical/jazz announcer/program host for WFMR, Milwaukee 1983-1987; WCBU, Peoria (IL), 1987-1992; WSIU, Carbondale (IL) 1992-93; then branched out into TV with WTCT (Tri State Christian TV) 1993-96 first as Master Control Operator, then as Asst. Traffic Manager (while also a camera operator for frequent live programs). Then in 1996 I moved to Quincy, IL where I went to work for WGEM TV as a production assistant. I did that for about a month, the moved into the position of weekend morning radio host, which job I have today. I also worked from 2001-03 as an internet tech support staff member for Supra Telecom, a Florida-based phone company that had a call center in Quincy.
I am currently involved with a very wonderful lady I met through the internet. Sadly, she lives in Cincinnati, which restricts our ability to get together too often. But it is nice to have someone to "come home" to, even if it is mostly virtual.
