I attended the University of Miami after graduation and received a BBA in Management/Marketing in June 1961. I started out as an Accouting major but met my waterloo with Cost Accounting and had to switch majors. I worked almost full time for Winn Dixie during college. After college I worked for Winn Dixie in a Management Training Program.
In May 1962, I entered the Air Force Officer Training School at Lackland AFB TX. I graduated from there and was commissioned a 2nd Lt on August 7, 1962. I served in the Air Force for 24 years and retired on June 30, 1986. I was a Supply Officer in the Air Force and retired as a Lt Col., (05).
I was stationed at the following Air Force bases during my career:
Patrick AFB, FL: South Ruislip England (London): Rhein Main AB Germany: Wiesbaden AB, Germany: Scott AFB IL: Udorn Afld Thailand: Offutt AFB NE: McDonnell Aircraft Co. Long Beach CA: Hurburt Fld FL: Williams AFb AZ: Zweibrucken AB, Germany, and Pease AFB NH.
While stationed at Rhein Main, I met an Air Force nurse named Della from Southern Illinois, and we fell in love and got married in December 1966. We had a son in December 1967. Della worked most of the time in various nursing positions.
In 1986, when I retired I went into Financial Planning, but did not like the selling aspects of the job and quit in a year. I then went to the University of Central Florida and graduated with a degree in Accounting. I worked for a wholesale auto parts distributor for about 18 months and then set up my own Accounting and Tax practice. I operated the business for 12 years and sold the business and retired in August 2004.
I have been very involved in our local Kiwanis Club since 2001 and our church since 1986. We have traveled a lot since I retired from the Air Force and we love to take cruises. We have been to many interesting places.
Life is good and we are enjoying retirement, even with a few minor medical problems.
