Today's Featured Biography
James Windell
I currently teach criminal justice classes at Wayne State University in Detroit and Oakland University in Rochester. Over the course of my career, I have been a probation officer and a court clinical psychologist working with offenders. For about a dozen years I ran high-conflict divorce groups and anger manager groups with teens on probation. I gave up both in 2013.
Besides teaching, I write columns, articles, blogs,and books. My latest book was "Sentencing Youth to Life in Prison" (May, 2022). In 2013 I published "The Inspired Quilts of Jane Windell," a tribute to my wife's artistry as a quilter.
I am currently researching and working on a book on ethics for mental health professionals, my memoirs, a memoir for a former prostitute and dominatrix and several other books. My last book was my 38th book (but who's counting!?). I'm the editor of The Michigan Psychologist and am active in the Michigan Psychological Association.
I'm still a runner, although I no longer participate in races. I enjoy running at our lake house.
Jane and I live in Bloomfield Hills, but spend more and more time at our lake house and hang out with several Amish families there and enjoy kayaking.
Jane has her Ph.D. in early childhood education. We decided we needed a legitimate "Doctor Windell" in the family. I've been called "Dr. Windell" for a long time. Probably because I'm an author and my hair is white.
