Dear Friends:
My name is Lisa Martino-Hudak and I am the daughter of Mr. Joseph Martino, first football coach of Colonia High School. I am soliciting the support of CHS students and athletes, their families, and the community in petitioning the Woodbridge Township Board of Education to name the Colonia High School Football Stadium after my father. Current Woodbridge Board of Education policy states that one of the criteria for reaching a decision with regard to naming a school or school facility is "a deceased person whose name has proved to have historical significance to the district or area." My mission is to petition the Board of Education to revise/amend that policy to eliminate the word “deceased.” During my father’s 10-year career (1967-1977) at Colonia High School, he displayed dedication, commitment, and loyalty to his students and players, their families, and the community. Statistics, historical significance and documented facts about his football career wins and loses, championships and awards, accomplishments of his players/students are impressive and extensive all of which are in the CHS history books; but it is only with the help of those students and players, their families, and the community that together, we can work as a team towards accomplishing the goal of a policy change.
I would love to include with my proposal as many letters as possible from people, like you, who support me and my family in our goal to name the Colonia High School Football Stadium after Joseph E. Martino, Colonia’s first football coach who built the foundation that the Colonia Patriot Football Program stands proud on today. It will be through the efforts of great people like you that will make the difference!
I would like to ask you and your family to reach out to as many players, classmates, students, and their families as possible who support our efforts and who would be willing to write letters showing their support. Letters can be written to the attention of the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. John Crowe, or to the Woodbridge Board of Education, P.O. Box 428, School Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 and/or mailed to me, Lisa Hudak, P.O. Box 548, Iselin, NJ 08830 so that I can present the entire package. My e-mail address is LisaHudak@comcast.net should you wish to contact me.
Thank you very much, in advance, for your support.
Very truly yours,
Lisa Martino-Hudak
