In September 1954, The American Statesman started a column called "Tri-High Scoop". A student from each high school wrote about the happenings at their school and then it was published in the Sunday paper. Each school had a "catchy" name, Austin was Maroon Musings, McCallum was 'Callum Clues and Travis was Travis Drawl. Enjoy reading about the days when you were at Travis.

"To foster Christian ideals in the school and community." With this as a goal for the 1957-58 year, the Young People's Christian Organization of Travis began its year with a meeting on Monday.
Elected as president was Everly Driscoll; vice-president, Betty Smith; recording secretary, Carol Cotman; corresponding secretary, Alice Mosteller; treasurer, Norma Alexander; clerk, Evelyn Lewis; historian, Phyllis Crouch; devotional chairmen, Sparky Blaylock and Jimmy Jackson.
Elections of class officers at Travis put Neill Coble as president of the senior 12A class. Tommie Craig is vice-president; Nancy Pearson, secretary; Myrtis White, treasurer; and Jerry Cox, sergeant-at-arms.
The 12B class officers are as follows: Billy Younger, president; Billy Mading, vice-president; Roy Coble, secretary; and Charles Maulding, treasurer.
President over the junior class for the fall semester is Jimmy Rogers. Other officers are vice-president, Johnny Polvado; secretary, Judy Bryson; treasurer, Nancy Thomas; sergeant-at-arms, Jesse Johnson.
Andy Crites will hold the gavel for the sophomore class with Bo Price as vice-president; David Burks, sergeant-at-arms; and Joy Ballard, treasurer.
Wednesday night was the meeting of the North and South. The Travis school cafeteria was the place and the occasion was a party for Blue Brigade of McCallum given by the Rebelettes.
Entertainment was provided by Myrtis White, Melinda Milstead and Gail Wallace in the production of "Frankie and Johnnie". Janice Brown, Judy Locke and Connie Todd contributed their talent to the program also. A melodrama, "Rome Owed What Julie Et", was given by Virginia Jarmon, Frances Spears, Charlene Nauert and Jackie Smith. Announcing the program was Betty Smith, Rebelette president.
Nominated for sweetheart of the Rebel football team for this year were Wanda Ponder, EllaBeth Sassman, Judy Barker, Lenora Ward and Nancy Thomas. Captains of the Southsiders for the McCallum-Travis game were Neill Coble and Gibbs Frankie.
