Today's Featured Biography
Darlene Nance Blasco
Since high school, I attended the University of Houston--Downtown (Bachelor's degree in general studies) and the University of St. Thomas (Master's degree in education) and have pursued a career in public school education.
I am currently the principal of James Deady Middle School in the Houston Independent School District. I have worked in HISD for 18 years--12 years at Hogg Middle School as a teacher and assistant principal, one year in the curriculum department as a curriculum writer, three years at Reagan High School as an assistant principal and am in my second year at Deady as the principal.
I am married to Frank Blasco, who is the Campus Educational Technologist at Reagan. Frank and I met at Hogg when we were both teachers there--he taught art and photography at Hogg for 22 years.
I have one daughter, Sherry Hill, who graduated from the University of Texas--Austin in 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in history and is attending Baylor Law School in Waco, TX.
I still keep in touch with several of my old friends from high school: Tina Moore Anderson, Brenda Preuss, Laura Baker and Connie Morris Dearing.
