Richard Howie

Well, to those who have been diligently reminding me (i.e. Kristel, Derek, and Paul), yes I finally created my profile. My procrastinating ways haven't changed a bit since high school. Thought about joining Procrastinators Anonymous, but just didn't get around to it (old joke, but I'm now an old guy). This condition has been further exacerbated by AAADD (Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder), which can be triggered by CIPSD (Child Induced Parental Sleep Deprivation). Symptoms include calling kids by siblings' names, searching house for car keys that are in your pocket, wondering what you actually had for breakfast, and transference of your IQ points to children. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Twenty years. How to summarize more than half my life in a few paragraphs? Sadly, I think I can do it. Lifestyles of the un-rich and unknown at its best. Having not been drafted by the Detroit Tigers, I resorted to Plan B, and like many other RHS grads headed off to UNB to further my education. After graduation, I had a few different jobs that included running my own business, managing an employment program, and human resources. Eventually I landed with Medavie Blue Cross in Human Resources where I spent a few years. I moved over to the training unit as a Trainer, and later this summer, will be returning to familiar ground in HR.

On the family side, I married a great Newfoundlander. In case you're not aware, they are gradually assimilating the country, kind of like the Borg but a lot more fun about it (if you’re a Trekkie, you’ll understand). Still living in Riverview, we have two wonderful daughters who manage to keep us tremendously busy and provide us (err, I mean me) with a few grey hairs. Parenting so far (teen years to come), has been a great experience, and am quite proud of the fact I can most of the time, successfully negotiate and broker deals with a 5 and an 8 year old. I'm thinking at times, UN peace talks must be easier... My parenting gig in a nutshell:
