Debbie Lord Stewart
How many years have flown by? Too many - most were good and others, well...
I received my AA in Business from SCC in 1974. After Dad's retirement we moved to Spokane, WA. (My brothers Tim and Randy and sister, Sandy, later graduated from a local high school and on to WSU & WWU. They're living here in Washington and doing well. My dad lives 30 minutes away - at "the lake," Mom passed 3 years ago.)
I moved back to San Diego, CA, was married for a short time. Attended SDSU in business and computers - before the personal computers hit the scene!! Anyone remember the HUGE machines that required punch cards to make them work? COBOL? RPG? Batch processing?
Anyway, I came home to visit my family on the Fourth of July, my dad introduced me to the man who changed my life forever, Randy Stewart (Electrical Engineer, who had just moved up here from the Bay area - likes to snow ski.) We were married two years later - July 4, 1981 in my parents front yard at Deer Lake. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from Eastern Washington University.
We've lived here in Spokane for 25 years! We have two wonderful children - Lacey Rae (1982) and Nicolas Lee (1983). I was privileged to be a stay-at-home mom during those important years.
Now, I work part-time at our church working with the Adult Ministries Team using some of my "antiquated - yet renewed" computer skills.
May 2003, Lacey married Matthew, 2nd Lt USAF; he's attending flight school for navigator training at NAS Pensacola, Florida (beautiful beaches!) They just had their first baby - Chloe Rae, June 4th, 2004. So, I turned 50 and the next week I became a grandma! Where does the time go? Our son, Nick, attended WSU for a year, and is still figuring out what he wants to do in addition to playing drums on our worship team and counseling junior high boys in the youth group.
And now that we almost have an empty nest, we're trying to figure out what we want to do when we grow up,too. Any ideas?
In order to "fight back" at our mid-life crisis, we bought a 2004 Honda 1300 VTX retro motorcycle -- we're loving it!
