Today's Featured Biography
James Preston
Update 2013. Still in Bakersfield. Went to work for an oilfield services company as Corporate Director of HES, nice gig. We do work in several states so I am traveling a lot. We have three grandchildren now, two in South Carolina with oldest son Jim Jr and one with youngest son Mike in Texas. Life is good and hope you all are doing well also. Maybe see you all at 40th reunion?
After High School I enlisted in the U. S. Navy and spent 23 years on Submarines, Destroyers, Hydrofoils, and ultimately ended up in Naval Special Warfare before retiring in 1997 as a Lieutenant. I went to work immediately after that with Frito-Lay as an Engineer and am now the Site Capital Projects Manager and Maintenance Manager. I have been here in Bakersfield for 10 years and plan to retire June 1, 2010 to pursue other interests. My son, James Jr, is 22 years old and lives in South Carolina. I will be his Best Man August 25th 2007 as he ties the not with his young bride Jordan. I married in Sept 2004 to my wonderful wife Vickie at Pismo Beach CA, and we also have a 90 pound Blue Tick Hound that the neighbors love :) He is kinda loud...
For those of you who knew him, my brother Jack passed away several years ago from a rare heart condition.
We spend a lot of time on the Harleys, traveling when we can. Two years ago rode to Colorado for the Rally in the Rockies, and then spent two weeks cruising thru Sedona, AZ, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and then back home thru the desert, bucking a 30 mph wind the entire way home. Had a blast!
I completed my education at Oregon State thru the Navy and graduated with a BSBA with a core of Finance. I have continued my education at various venues and have completed most of my Masters in Education, but then got disillusioned with the State education system and teacher layoffs, etc. Most recently I have been studying Residential Construction at the local Junior College in the pursuit of my Contractors License so that I can work on a 3rd retirement.
My wife Vickie is a Title Officer for Ticor Title and is a very independent young woman, (yes, I have robbed the cradle-so to speak- she just turned 40).
Upon retirement in 2010, we plan to move out to South Carolina to raise Grand Babies. Hope to see you all in October!
Update July 2007 - I announced my early retirement from Frito-Lay for Oct 1st 2007. This will be my re-retirement after the US Navy gig. Plan on vacationing in October, including attending the re-union, and then off to find another retirement check :)
Vickie just had orthroscopic knee surgery to clean up some cartilage in her right knee. operation went well and expect a full recovery in a couple of weeks so that we can "cut a rug" at the reunion. Looking forward to seeing you all.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
