Today's Featured Biography
Jan Loomis
I’ve been married to Sherrie, my best friend, for 41 years. We have two children, Jonathan (38) and Jennifer (35). We have two grandsons.
I began my career working for or with colleges and universities in 1977. I held a number of positions in Colorado, Arizona and Ohio. I also worked for several software companies that served higher education, one of which took us to Rochester, NY for 7 years. We returned to Arizona in 1995 with an eye toward where we wanted to retire.
I was fortunate to invent and develop a web-based software solution that led me to create my own company and nurture it through start-up and venture capital funding. I sold out to a group of investors before the dot com bust. I’ve worked the past 12 years as a management and technology consultant serving colleges and universities across the country.
I enjoy spending time on the golf course and we live in a golf course community in San Tan Valley, AZ. We also enjoy spending time at our home in the mountains of Arizona, outside of Payson. We’ve enjoyed vacationing in Norway, England, Mexico and Canada and are looking forward to visiting Africa, Australia and Europe after we retire.
I’m grateful for having had the opportunity to grow up in Northglenn and for the educational preparation I received from caring faculty at NGHS. Most of us came from hard working-class families, with parents who had a dream that their children could go to college and/or better themselves in their careers and lives. Having looked at many of the bios posted by classmates, it looks like we are all “living the dream” and I look forward to seeing you at the reunion!
