NOW FOR ME...JUDY BONNEVILLE....
AFTER NORTHGLENN HIGH I...went to college @ CSU, was in Air Force ROTC (enjoyed that/flew in F16), Alpha Phi sorority, CSU Varsity Tennis Team, Yearbook staff, then changed majors/schools to Metropolitan State College(University) in Denver to complete dual degrees in Travel Admin/Mngt and Meeting Planning Admin/Mngt. in 1982 with honors. Met Craig Baker (Northglenn Class of '78) during classes & had fun, memorable years with him. Started as Domestic Agent at Woodruff World Travel in Cherry Creek, then Intl. Agent, Staff Trainer. Moved to Dallas, TX to join parents. Worked in the travel business as Travel Counselor, moved up to Office Manager, Company trainer, traveled for work & experience. Moved to Minneapolis to attend legal school. In Minneapolis, I worked at Carlson Companies World Headquarters, (included Radisson Hotels, TGIFridays, Carlson Travel Agencies, Country Inn & Suites, etc.) creating, designing tours for mature travelers, contract & legal negotiations, tour operations, management, arrangements. Enjoyed being Tour Manager by escorting tours I designed with our high-repeat clientele around world. Loved working with these smart, educated, well-traveled mature travelers on extended tours. I was away from home a lot. Escorted tours to Florida, Scandinavia, Britain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Monte Carlo, Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Hawaii, Mexico, Alaska, cruises, etc....To keep up with the changes and management in the industry, I completed a thesis paper and attained a "CTC" designation, which is equivalent to a Masters + numerous certificates & awards.
WORK ACCIDENT: On a tour of Athens, Greece, I experienced a work accident that later required multiple operations & procedures, physical therapy, injections, etc. that finally lead to several diagnosis, including RSD "Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy" and later being "officially" Totally and Permanently Disabled. Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome/CRPS, is a chronic progressive neurological condition that affects skin, muscles, joints, and bones. The pain has been described as burning, shooting, stabbing, and aching. There are continual spasms and cramping. It is common to feel as if being cut deep with a knife when the there is a breeze or even the lightest touch. Bed sheets & clothing are painful. Thank goodness that I finally have a knowledgeable doctor that understands the complexities of this disease. There are over 7 million people in the USA that have this disease and many don't know they have it. There is a : [email protected] coalition to trying to change that. So, I go to Aquatic Therapy (warm water/pool) at "Courage Center" near us to try to keep my muscles moving and other mind/body exercises. It's difficult to rethink of your once athletic body being changed because of continuing damage to it. Frustrating, yes. Having a sense of humor is important in life - especially when it throws you curves! But, I have faith, good family & friends, and hope, which helps my mind too. I do what I can and am learning that I cannot be the athletic person I was. You always have to think that someone has it worse than you do, so you won't feel sorry for yourself! I look forward to hearing from my old friends from Northglenn at [email protected]. Write me!
Have a great 30th Reunion!
