Carol Jackson Galloway
Carol Galloway 61, of Grinnell, Iowa passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Carol Lynn Jackson was born on September 7, 1952, in Marshalltown, Iowa; she was the daughter of Joseph C. and Joyce “Red” (Connley) Jackson. Carol attended school in the Marshalltown Community School graduating with the class of 1970; she went on to receive her Degree in Nursing in Marshalltown. Carol was united in marriage to Richard M. Allen Jr. and they later divorced. She then married Marlin E. Galloway on June 10, 1989; they had resided in Grinnell, Iowa. Carol truly loved her job as a Nurse working for Grinnell Regional Hospital and Grinnell Home Health Care, Encompass Insurance and East Marshall Elementary School. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Carol loved the kitchen and enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning her harvest from the garden; she was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed quilting. Carol will be remembered as great mother, grandmother and a friend to many.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jamie (Christopher) Birkness of Des Moines, Iowa, Anna Maria (Billy J.) Opperman of La Porte City, Iowa, and Richard M. (Amy Brown) Allen, III, of Grinnell, Iowa. Grandchildren: Matthew Allen, Tyler, Braden and Breanna Birkness, Jacob, Zachary, Jackson and Savannah Opperman, Richard M. Allen, IV, and Nathan Sparks. Great-grandson, Kaden Birkness. Sisters: Chris (Christopher) Hand and Anna Jackson, all of Grinnell, Iowa.
In death Carol rejoins her parents, Joseph and Joyce, husband, Marlin and brother, Glen W. Jackson.
