Today's Featured Biography
Mike Oetker
Michael F. “Mike” Oetker, 52, of Lebanon, IN died November 21, 2013.
A celebration of Life will be held at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home on Monday December 2nd, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial services at the Riverside Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the Knights of Columbus Hall following the services. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Mike was born May 31, 1961 in Marshalltown, Iowa; the son of Omer and Kathleen (Snyder) Oetker. Mike graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1979. Mike served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper for over twenty years and served in the White House Transportation Agency. Deployments include Grenada-Operation Urgent Fury, Operation Desert Shield/Storm, and Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan. Most recently Mike worked with J.B. Hunt as a truck driver.
His memberships included the American Legion in Lebanon, Patriot Guard Riders of Lebanon and the Lebanon Bowling League. His interests included bowling, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, golfing, Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Iowa Hawkeyes fan, community service and supporter of American Veterans and spending time with his family. Mike was very caring, giving, and willing to do anything for others. He kept his friends close and his family closer.
Survivors include his mother, Kathleen; ex-wife, Denise Rae Oetker; son, Brad (Sarah) Oetker of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; daughter, Amber (Rich) Eady of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren: Alexander Oetker and Alexia Eady; sister, Sheila Oetker of Kansas City, MO. and brother, Troy Oetker of Urbandale, IA. He was preceded in death by his father.
