Today's Featured Biography
Josh Lavender
Josh Lavender, 30, of Marshalltown, passed away Friday, November 1st, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 8th, at the 1st Congregational Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from noon until the service time at the church. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234.
Born Joshua Lynn Lavender on November 18th, 1982, in Bend, Oregon, he was the son of Dennis and Jerri (Garrett) Lavender. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School’s class of 2001 and later from the masonry program at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. He resided in Marshalltown and Cedar Rapids and was currently employed at TPI in Newton at the time of his death.
To Josh, there was nothing greater in this world than being a father. He treasured every moment he spent with his boys. He adored teaching them about the finer things in life, such as basketball and fishing. Josh also enjoyed woodworking and airbrushing. Josh will be remembered for his unwavering honesty, big mouth, and even bigger heart.
Left to cherish his memory are his children – Carter Gordon Lavender of Gilman and Owen William Lavender of Cedar Rapids, his fiancé Erin Grabe of Cedar Rapids, his mother Jerri Lavender of Marshalltown, brother Jeremy (Julie) Lavender of Marshalltown, brother Jason (Emily) Babinat of Tama, grandmother Barb Garrett of Marshalltown, grandfather Gordon Lavender of Marshalltown and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends as wells as Erin’s parents Bill and Nancy Grabe.
In death, Josh rejoined his brothers James and Matthew, his dad, his grandparents Howard Garrett and Barbara Lavender, and uncles Warren Garrett and Kevin “Stix” Lavender.
