Today's Featured Biography

Ron Spencer

After high school I went into the U S Navy. I was sent home after some 90 days . They called it an erroneous enlistment discharge due to a broken collar bone that didn't heal properly. So I worked at Pizza Hut in Round Lake Beach until they went corporate, then worked as the night manager at Beowulf Inn on Fairfield until it went bankrupt. Piddle farted around for a while then the area gm for pizza hut got in contact with me. He had moved to Tx. to stay with the franchise and asked me if I would move and go into there management training. So I loaded up my 1970 Olds 88 and moved to Coleman Tx. A little less then a year later I was in Kerrville Tx and became the youngest manager the franchise ever had. That was kind of cool but the 60 - 80 hr weeks were killing me. While working there I met my first wife. Melody was one of my waitresses. After some problems we decided to move and I worked some odd jobs until we moved back to Round Lake for a time. While in Il. we had a daughter. we named her Cassandra Marie.. or so I thought. When I came back to the hospital I was informed that my wife had named her Angela Marie.
Well after a while we moved to Waukegan and then back to Tx. After some more odd jobs and some odd towns we ended up in San Antonio where I went to truck driving school. Three days before graduation Melody left me for a disk jocky and one of the clubs in the area. About two months later I took angel and moved to Ky to live close to my parents for a while. About two years we finally got divorced, i got custody of Angel and we moved to Springfield Mo. This was in '94.
Here I met some kids through an acquaintance and fell in love with them. Welsey, Ronald, Robert, William, Nicholas, and Lotty. There mom was having some drug problems and they came to Springfield to live with there grandmother. After about a year there mother got better and took the kids back. After about 5 months there mother called me to say the kids realy missed Angel and I and asked if she and her kids could stay for a while. I said sure, The next day while I was at work they came to my house.... with four extra kids. A friend was staying at my house at the time, an older lady named Barbra. When I came home there were ten... yes 10 kids sitting on the floor in my living room. My Angel. five of the kids I mentioned and four more. John, Derrick, Byron and Kody. I wasn't informed that there was more coming you see.
Any way. the next day Penny, the mom of the 5 and another lady Kim, the mother of the four show up with a car full of belongings.
So now I have three women and 10 kids in my 3 bedroom 1 bath house....whew. After about 3 months of getting adjusted to this Kim asked me if she could go and get 2 more. They were her niece and nephew who were also the kids of her best friend who had passed away two years earlier. There father wasn't able to care for them.. I said why not and hole cow, now there's 12 kids in my house.
Four months there still there and Barbra brings her daughter to live with us as well. an 17 year old who had dropped out of school. 13 kids and 4 adults in this 3 bed 1 bath house...
Well after a time Penny moved out with most of her kids.. she left Ronald, Robert and William with me for a while. And Kim and her six moved across town.
Aprox a year later, when all the dust had settled I asked Kim out. Not long after a successful first date we ended up moving in together and then married on June 17 1998.
We have had a number of people move in and out of our home since then. Kim calles it a Percilla and Aquilla ministry. It makes sence to me. Read the book of Acts and you'll see.
Since then we have had four of our kids (the word step isn't allowed in our home) have moved out to start there own lives. One just graduated high school on 05/18 and two are left. Kim and I never really had time to "court" each other with our ready made family and are looking forward to it. She is my love and life. Thank God she came along.

... Well that's my story in short form.. If anyone wants the gory details feel free to ask
