Today's Featured Biography
Alice Maggi Blegen
I graduated from UMKC with a degree in elementary education, taught two years, then decided that was enough! My daughter, Andrea was born in 1973, then my son was born in 1974. I stayed home with them a couple of years then in 1977 I went to work at the JCPenney Regional Credit Office in Mission, KS part-time. Upon divorcing in 1979, I began working full-time and went into management. In 1980 I became the Personnel Manager for that office, then transferred to Cincinnati in 1984 when a new, larger office opened there. I then transferred to the JCP Corporate Headquarters in Plano, TX in 1986 where I worked as a systems liaison, manager of a divisional communications department, credit marketing, product development, and catalog program management. I enjoyed working in all the various areas of the company then took an early retirement from there in 2002 when I was offered a job in Chicago by one of my suppliers. Shortly after I moved to Chicago, I met John Blegen, the love of my life, an immensely talented musician, former library director, fluent speaker of French, and all-round wonderful man! Between us we have have four children - my daughter is now living in Dallas and is an MRI cardiovascular research scientist, my son is in Denton, TX and is a photographer, computer repair dude, appliance repair guy, and a certified Honda motorcycle mechanic. And carpenter. John's son, Ted lives in LA and works in the theater industry there. His older son, Mike, lives in Ithaca, NY, and teaches computer science in the local high school. Both of John's sons are married and each has a son - Hal, 6, in LA and Ray, 12, in Ithaca. With our kids all spread out, we travel a lot to see them and also have been to Europe several times, especially when my daughter was working in London. I convinced John to move to KC from Evanston, IL in 2012 with the promise of a dog. John, Sam-the-dog, and I love living here and John's a frequent jazz performer around town. It was great seeing everyone at the reunion. I hope we can keep in touch.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
