Today's Featured Biography
Thomas Pilcher
After graduating from Wayne, I went directly to work. But I kept up with my music through my association with Miller's Blackhawks during my off hours. This was how I came to meet (and subsequently marry) Gracie Bordonaro, (of Centerville, OH) March 22, 1980...
Over the next 17 years, we moved from Huber to East Dayton, Kettering, West Carrolton, Miamisburg, Moraine and finally Centerville. I managed to get hired on at NCR in the winter of 1980, and worked for them 15 years in their USDPG, for the home office in Dayton and at the technical education center.
During that time, I also worked any variety of part-time jobs...from, DJ work to shuttle bus driver, Pinkerton guard, solar panel sales and even waterbeds! I started working part-time for Best Buy as a car audio salesman in September 1994. The electronics bug had bitten me, and I was all in for the ride after AT&T bought out NCR and placed their people in key positions...laying off hundreds of long-time NCR employees.
After turning down a management position with BP, I accepted a supervisory role with Best Buy in the winter of 1996...and got divorced in March 1997.
Soon after, I met "on-line" (and eleven months later married) Naomi Ramos McGlinn, April 27, 1998 in Lakeland, Florida. My Best Buy position easily moved me there...staying for 10 years. We moved to San Antonio in March 2010, to be closer to the grandchildren.
What we did not know at the time, was how fast a disease like Alzheimer's can change your life, and the lives of those around you. Naomi was diagnosed with "Early On-set" in 2006, but we figured we had some time left to enjoy our family. Up until we moved from Florida to Texas, she was able to hold a full-time job and enjoy a fairly normal lifestyle. But suddenly, the disease took over, and all our plans changed almost overnight. We returned to central Florida in 2014, to be closer to more of her family, and I gave up my position with Best Buy to be her full-time caregiver.
Naomi passed away 12/20/2016, and I returned to the Dayton area in May 0f 2017. I have recently returned to Florida (2022)
I have three children by my first wife; Stephanie Nicole(1985), Steven Thomas(1986), and Shannon Michelle(1991). Step-daughter Patricia Irene and two grandchildren (Marisa and Diego) living in Colorado.
My Son is now married with two children, living in Michigan, and both my daughters now reside in Jacksonville. FL., the youngest works in a popular bar/bistro, and competes with other mixologists across the state.
My Mother, Catherine Pilcher, passed away on November 22, 2000.
I can be found on social networks MySpace, Facebook and Twitter, Truth, MeWe or Parler. Or, just drop me a line - [email protected]
