Today's Featured Biography
Ted Root
Once upon a time…ah no! It was a dark and stormy night…don’t think so. Suddenly a shot rang out…nope. Where is Mrs. Kaufman when you need a good opening sentence?
Writing a little bio is probably like telling a story. It needs a beginning, a middle, and an end. The beginning to some degree WE shared together. The middle began after graduation with a trip up Route 5 (now 59) to Kent State University. Rejecting a freshman year spent studying to be an electrical engineer, I followed an inclination to be a public school music teacher. At the end of 4 ½ years , I acquired two titles in addition to the B.S. in music education. The first title was Husband; the second was Lieutenant. Husband has been going on for 46 years and was achieved with Laura Roberts (see her bio for more details). Lieutenant was achieved by fooling the Army into believing I was a leader of men. I was. Kind of like that other famous Lieutenant: “Fuzz”. It earned me a one year, all expenses paid trip to a small southeast Asian country in 1966. By February of 1967, I achieved a new title: Father (Thanks Laura). Returning home in August of 1967, I met my 6 month old son, Dan.
By 1973, we had three children and a major home renovation/building project on Ritchie Rd. in Stow. After thirty years of teaching, I retired in 1996. After four years, I flunked retirement and returned to the classroom for six more years. I have been seriously retired for three years and am working on the end of this bio. It has included travel with classmates to Nova Scotia, Hawaii and back in ’95 a trip to the British Isles and France following our son Tom and the Ohio State Men’s Glee Club. Dan and Tom and their families live in Columbus, Ohio. Nancy and her family live next door.
Hopefully, as we continue this end run, it will include a few more reunions. Catching up with classmates is always fun. Don’t forget: in Bulldog years we’re 476 years old. Sorry Mrs. Kaufman, I’m not too good with closing sentences either.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
