Today's Featured Biography
Charles Lane
Before graduation I enlisted in the Naval Reserves, and attended Oklahoma A&M, Stillwater for three semesters. I attended two weeks Boot Training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, IL. In Jan. 1955 I enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany. Upon returning home in 1958, I met my wife and we were married in April, 1958. Pat was a 1958 graduate of WRHS. I enlisted in the US Air Force in Sept. 1958 and we traveled to Moses Lake, WA. for nine months. Then I was stationed in the Azores, after that we were in several states and France, Japan, and I had a tour in Veit Nam. I was also stationed at Patrick AFB,FL. doing work with NASA at the Cape and down range. I retired from the Air Force in 1981. During Our time in service we had four boys. Each was born in a different hospital at different duty stations. We have ten grandchildren from Washington State to Arizona to Florida to Washington DC. Went to work at SWBT (Southwestern Bell Telephone Company) in Tulsa, then in 1982 when the split came I went to work with AT&T for another five years. Then during the reduction of force in AT&T I was let go. I then went to work for and independent phone company, MCE Communications. In 1999 I retired completely and help take care of our grandchildren. Since 2007 I have been volunteering at the Verdigris Elementry School, as a crossing guard and tutor when needed. I retired from Verdigris School in 2013.
