Martha Nichols Vecchiolla

In purely hyperbolic fashion "it seems like only yesterday"...in reality it feels every bit the 35 years since we were graduated from high school. My memories of high school grow fonder as the years go by and when telling stories of my high school years to my children my grades are always better and my SAT score higher.
After high school I went to VA Tech and graduated from there in 1978. By the time we had our 10 year high school reunion I had just had my first child, a daughter named Claire who is now 25 years old. She graduated from William and Mary in 2007 and the following month she enter the Peace Corps. She just returned home from her two year service in China Now my husband and I are sharing our 1100 square foot condo with our 6' daughter, 6'4" son and our 50 pound dog! My son, Adrian is 17 and a senior at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA. Since he is a boarding student I have been lucky to avoid the car and curfew issues of high school which has added years to my life expectancy.
I retired from Federal Service five years ago and have enjoyed the "retired life" since then. After living in Germany for 15 years I returned to the States in 1999. I lived in Washington, D.C. for awhile and then moved back to Alexandria, almost a stones throw from where I was raised on King Street. Two years ago, my husband Tom, took a position with Raytheon in Massachusetts so we moved to the North End in Boston. We are steps from the Old North Church, 100 restaurants and everyday is a challenge not to eat a cannoli. Most days I cave and try to make it up by doing an extra workout session. I know it is a cliche, but so true, that what I feel the most fortunate about in my life is that everyone in my family has good health and we are all happy.
