Kristi Watkins
I never ended up graduating from LHS, but eventually obtained my GED in 2005, and from there I'm working on a Theater Major at the local college in Georgia.
I left Manitowoc shortly after school let out in 1997 and moved to Georgia. From there, I lived in Dallas and Ft. Worth Texas, then Dover, Deleware. I came back to WI for a couple of months, then ended up back in GA. Next was Detroit, MI, where I started working with a sound and lighting company setting up festivals, concerts, and corporate gigs that came through the state (Fabulous Thunderbirds, Megadeath, MI State Fair). Black Mt., NC, where I worked mostly in a theater in Asheville. I went back to GA for a bit, then spent 6 months living in my car to set up concerts all over Florida. That was the most difficult but best time I had while on the road. I spent a lot of time with big bands who started out their tours in FL (N'Sync, Third Eye Blind, Kiss, Korn, Staind, ZZ Top, Skynard, Bush, to name a few). I lived in Morgan City, LA afterwards so I could work in New Orleans and also to see 2 of my best friends, Robbie and Jesse Huston. I worked with a production company dealing mostly with lighting. That was a great expierience, because we did a lot of work for French Quarter Fest, Mardi Gras World (where they build the floats for Mardi Gras) and the River Fest. I also worked for the Superdome setting up for George Strait and several others.
After LA, I ended up back in GA, where a good friend and I began dating, and in 2002, we had our first daughter, Sarra. 18 months later, we had our second daughter, Anwen.
I now go to school full time at South Georgia College (who would've thought?) and am the Editor-in-Chief of the newly re-formed yearbook, a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Communications Officer for the Theater Company, a member of the Student Government, and work small light shows for local plays and productions on campus for the Theater Company.
Between school, my girls, and a part-time job, my fiancee Ray and I hardly see eachother, but we somehow have managed to work together to continue raising our beautiful daughters. A wedding date has not yet been set....we're too busy!! =)
On Nov. 16, another student from SGC and I went to Atlanta to represent our school in a statewide debate. We competed against several universities from GA (Including Moorehouse-where MLK graduated from) and ended up taking 1st place! In the spring, we head back to Atlanta to compete in the regionals (8 states!).
It's been great to read up on people and see what's going on with who. If you'd like to chat, let me know...It would be nice to touch base with some of you all (or should I say "Ya'll"?). Safe travels and happiness.
