Today's Featured Biography
Mike (Cecil) COPPER
After my highly regarded mediocre academic career at Strong Vincent, I attended Edinboro University, where I be a English mayjor. I enjoyed my time there so much, I stuck around a fifth year to get my bachelor's degree.
(Edinboro bestowed upon me "summa cum lousy" honors upon graduation.)
For two years, I was the sports editor for the newspaper in Titusville. (Motto: "It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from here.") I returned to Erie -- a novelty given the city's current climate -- and rejoined the staff at the Times Publishing Company, where I worked during college.
At one point, I wrote obits and an auto racing column.
(Insert your Dale Earnhardt punchline here.)
Sadly, sports remain my obsession. For some reason, chicks aren't into big dorky white guys who work 14-hour days typing in bowling scores and asking wrestlers how their groin pull held up at regionals.
Aside from misguided attempts at humor, which I proved not once but twice as an M.C. at Jr.'s, my only other interest appears to be travel. A week-long river trip through the Grand Canyon in 1998 was a sincere spiritual experience.
Trips to Marriageville and Commitmentburg have not made the itinerary.
But enough of my self-indulgent blather. I want to hear your self-indulgent blather.
This reunion can't arrive soon enough, people. Some are starting to call me "Sir," which makes me feel mature and responsible.
I can't have that on my conscious, dammit!
That's where you come into play. Hope to see as many '86 brethren in June as possible.
