Today's Featured Biography
Michaela Kelley Canterbury
Where to start? How about after highschool went to college and graduated with a BA in political science, minoring in philosophy from Duquesne University in Pgh, PA. Went to law school and got a J.D. at Gonzaga School of Law in Spokane, WA. Returned to Alaska to practice law and taught some law classes on the side. Realized I like litigation practice (imagine that). Met my prince (Chris Canterbury CHS '85) and married in '97. We found the home of our dreams in Eagle River town, AK and started a family. We have a son Connor (8) and a daughter Grace (4). I am the managing partner and a trial attorney in the law firm of Kelley & Canterbury - made up of me, my husband Chris and my father. I love being a mom, trial attorney and having my best friend as my husband/partner in all things. I try to get together with "the girlfriends" from CHS '87 on a regular basis and see classmates here and there and around town. I think the bonds of friendship from highschool have maintained nicely in this great community and now our children are friends and classmates too. It's really nice to see life, friends and community come full circle. My son thinks it's pretty cool that I went to highschool Officer Tarbox, Firefighter Norm Campbell, Dr. Bobby, Coach Reid and others. So many of the parents of my kids friends are classmates and it is a nice feeling. I look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
