Three adult daughters, living in the Denver/Longmont/Platteville areas. Five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
My mother, Dorothy, is still alive and well in Longmont, CO
I am a second generation native Coloradoan. My father was raised on a farm east of Aurora, CO. I was born in Denver, but moved to Adams City when only a few months old. My dad worked a small refinery at 72nd & Highway 85 (it was closed and dismantled many years ago.)
I, along with a few others, went all 12 years of school at Adams City Elementary, Jr. High, and High School. At the risk of missing someone, I believe the following were included in that group: Gerry Gassman, Bobby Riggi, Jo Ann Saurini, Aarona Thornsby. (I believe Jo Ann knows all of us who did so.) I have included a photo of our 2nd grade class.
I worked at the Conoco refinery immediately out of high school and worked there for nearly 15 years. I was very active in the Denver Local 2-477 of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Intíl Union, and went to work as an International Representative for the Union in 1971. I was also a very active member of the South Adams County Volunteer Fire Department, rising to the rank of Assít Chief before my job with the Union required moving to Texas in 1972. My 12 years in the SACVFD are among the most memorable of my life.
My work with the Union required moving seven or eight times, with stints in Texas, back to Denver as Director of the Health and Safety Dept, then to Montana, then back to Denver as the Assistant to the Intíl Secretary-Treasurer. I retired in April of 1999 rather than move again to Nashville when we merged with the Paperworkers Union.
Carylon is still working as a legal secretary for Union Pacific Railroad. I do some work from time-to-time at the law office. However, my main activities are skiing, mountain and road biking and hiking. I have done 13 of Coloradoís 14ers, but I believe my 14ere days are over. Iím getting lazy.
We enjoy living back in Colorado and really like the Conifer area where we have lived since 1997.
